Orb of Creation Early Spell Loadout
Build the optimal Orb of Creation early spell loadout: duplicate conjure slots, first augments, resource focus order, and bar setup for fast snowballing.
The early spell loadout is the foundation every Orb of Creation run depends on. Before rituals, before alchemy automation, and before permanent augment chains, you need a spell bar that converts keyboard presses into compounding resource output. The optimal early loadout is deliberately boring: the same conjure spell on multiple keys, one augment that amplifies it, and ruthless focus on a single resource until capacity forces you to diversify.
The Duplicate Conjure Technique
Orb of Creation allows the same spell on multiple bar slots. Each slot casts independently. Placing Summon Stone on keys 1, 2, 3, and 4 means four presses generate four times the stone output of a single slot. This is not an exploit. It is the intended early-game acceleration method shown in every community playthrough from v0.4 through v0.6 beta.
Do not spread conjure spells across different resources in early slots. Splitting attention between stone and knowledge simultaneously slows both. Pick one resource, duplicate its conjure spell, and press until you hit a capacity wall or unlock the next upgrade tier. Then swap the duplicated spell for the next target resource.
- Keys 1-4: Same conjure spell duplicated for maximum output
- Key 5: First augment with Conjure tag synergy or cooldown reduction
- Keys 6-9: Empty or second augment once unlocked
- Focus: One resource per session until snowballing to the next
Choosing Your First Augment
Your first augment should reduce cooldowns of other spells or boost Conjure-tagged spells while active. Read tooltips carefully: an augment that says it affects all Conjure spells belongs on your bar alongside every duplicated conjure slot. Toggle it on once at the start of a session and leave it active.
Avoid permanent augments that drain energy or mana continuously until you understand your regeneration rate. Early permanent augments with drain can collapse your economy if toggled carelessly. Start with simple cooldown or output boosters that have no ongoing cost beyond the initial toggle.
Resource Focus Order
Early progression follows a loose priority: workshop resources first, then mental resources like knowledge, then magic resources like mana and energy. Within each category, focus one resource until the next upgrade unlocks. Clicking your resource icon to inspect capacity sources reveals exactly which upgrade you lack when purchases become unaffordable.
Capacity walls are the early game's primary obstacle. When you cannot afford the next purchase, the fix is almost always a capacity upgrade rather than a different spell. Trace capacity sources through the resource panel before rebuilding your entire loadout.
Transitioning to Mid-Game Loadout
The early loadout breaks down when alchemy unlocks. Transmutation automates resource conversion, freeing bar slots previously spent on manual conjuring. Your first mid-game shift replaces two conjure duplicates with alchemy-support augments or your first permanent augment chain. Do not rush this transition. Run the duplicate conjure loadout until transmutation is genuinely unlocked and tested.
Brewing unlocks during early-to-mid transition as well. Level brewing even if potions seem unnecessary. Brewing levels boost alchemy power across transmutation, herbalism, and potion branches simultaneously. Bind your first mana potion to Q in preparation for ritual combat even before rituals unlock.
Common Early Loadout Mistakes
New players assign nine different spells because nine slots exist. Others toggle permanent augments on and off without reading drain rates. A third pattern is leveling combat spells before the economy supports them, then failing to afford ritual spells later. The early loadout should contain zero combat spells. Combat comes after economy snowballing.
- Duplicate one conjure spell instead of filling nine unique slots
- Toggle augments once and leave them on for the session
- Focus one resource until capacity or upgrade unlocks the next
- Save combat spells for ritual prep in mid-game, not early bar slots
